An outdoor concert by Jean Michel Jarre will be held next August 28th in Oslo, with the Akershus fortress as backdrop for the show, a medieval construction.

On 28. August Oslo will witness a spectacular event when superstar Jean Michel Jarre holds a concert at the Akershus Fortress. Together with artists such as Röyksopp, The Very Best and The New Wine, this is Jean Michel Jarre's first outdoor show in Norway, a show that will conclude with huge fireworks in Oslo by night.

- This is a big party for the whole city, where young and old will have a great experience. Jean Michel Jarre is famous for his spectacular concerts around the world, and drew over three and a half million people to his concert in Moscow, says organizer Peer Osmundsvaag in Atomic Soul. With Röyksopp, The Very Best and The New Wine we could not have found a better and more spectacular opening of this wonderful place!

Akershus Fortress will with its great location and historical importance form the framework for the concert, a concert where we exploit the fortress' potential as a public arena. This is the first time Akershus open all its area for such a type of event.

Jean Michel Jarre is a living legend in electronic music. He has sold over 80 million records and is famous for his spectacular concerts worldwide. His big breakthrough came in 1976 with the album "Oxygene" and Jarre's live performances in Moscow, Paris and Houston, have all been listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest concerts. Jarre has also held concerts at landmarks like the Acropolis in Athens, the pyramids of Cairo and the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Parts of Jarre's live show at the Akershus Fortress will be synchronized with a gigantic fireworks show that will go into the history of Oslo.

- We do not want to miss this opportunity, and we want to impress the audience too. Size-wise, this will go into the history books, and we may use up to one tonne of fireworks, says the manager of fireworks Espen Kolstad in Engelsrud NFI Fireworks.

The company has previously organized the fireworks at the opening of the Operahouse in Bjørvika and the People's Theatre at Youngstorget.

Jean Michel Jarre along with Röyksopp can be seen as an interaction between two different generations of electronic musicians, both artists have inspired
each other. Röyksopp have won the Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy Award) seven times, and is without a doubt one of the world's largest electronic groups. The duo has released three studio albums, all of which have topped the charts in Norway and is widely known for their collaborations with other international stars.

In addition, the French/Swedish/Malawian group "The Very Best" and a band from Bergen "The New Wine" will perform. More names are expected to the concert, which will be published in the spring."
