In Concert Houston Lyon
// Released 1987 // Label: Disques Dreyfus //
Rendez-vous Houston was a concert performed by musician Jean Michel Jarre on the skyscrapers of downtown Houston on the evening of April 5, 1986. For a period of time, it held a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest outdoor "rock concert" in history, with figures varying from 1 to 1.5 million in attendance. Rendez-vous Houston is remembered for being the concert which celebrated the astronauts of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, which had happened only three and a half months beforehand. A VHS video of this concert has also been released.
The visit of Pope John Paul II to Jarre's hometown of Lyon was celebrated by this event held on October 5, 1986, gathering over 800,000 spectators. A VHS video of this concert has also been released.
This live album contains tracks from the two concerts.
In 1997 this album was reissued and the title changed from "In
Concert Houston / Lyon" to "Cities in Concert" (the
same as the edition that was part of the Limited Edition 8 CD Box).
